Oscar Guajardo is an advocate for all the educational opportunities SRJC has to offer, specifically Career Education (CE). After spending 8 years working as a Career & Technical Education Coordinator, Oscar knows that Career Education is the path to upper mobility in a world of global competitiveness; plus, this path can be a pragmatic starting point to all other educational options.
Oscar might be called a modern-day “Renaissance Man.” He has worked in numerous CE-related jobs which have given him a special insight on this area - dishwashing technician, chef, personal trainer and fitness, filmmaking, marketing, graphic design, web design, radio, translation for companies and organizations and many others. After finishing college, Oscar started working in Human Services for different non-profit organizations serving the needs of children, families, women and underserved youth; as a Community Liaison/Advisor, educating and advocating for Latino/Hispanic children and parents; as a Liaison, Systems Administrator and Crisis Line Counselor for United Against Sexual Assault (UASA); and, as a Counselor working with juveniles on probation with gang affiliations and who also struggle with mental health issues.
Oscar is a graduate of Santa Rosa Junior College (AA/AS). He holds a BA in Communications Studies from Sonoma State University and and MA in Career & Technical Education and Adult and Community Education from Ball State University.
In his spare time, Oscar likes to participate in what some people may call “extreme” hobbies and athletic activities such as CrossFit, martial arts, boxing, long-distance running, and obstacle raising. He also loves to hike the amazing woods and parks of Northern California.
